#1 Sports Station in the Willamette Valley
Bulldog Media Broadcasting LLC is the parent company of The Sports Animal.
Born from an idea our creator, Danny Havel, had while scanning the dial in the Eugene Radio market in 2024, hoping to hear someone, somewhere, doing entertaining Sports Talk. Not being satisfied with what he heard, he decided he would build it himself. So, it started with a 1-hour show “Danny and Justin” on KORE in September 2024.
Coaches and players started participating, the audience grew. National sports figures were a fixture on the program. It grew MORE. As the show exploded, the station as a whole took off, and it is now the #1 Sports Station in the Willamette Valley.
Our motto will always be: Local radio must be steeped in being LOCAL. Covering the State Universities, local Colleges, and the High School level…giving a voice to the wonderful charitable organizations that protect and care for the local community, and lastly, being an escape, a refuge where someone can come have FUN, be ENTERTAINED, and maybe learn something in the process.
Danny purchased the station from Steven Woodward July of 2026. As KORE celebrates 100 years…the entire staff is energized to bring JOY and LAUGHTER to the airwaves every day.
LET’S GO!!!

DANNY HAVEL
One of Oregon's Most Recognizable Voices in Sports.
Danny has been broadcasting for over 40 years.
Starting out as a weekend announcer at 610 KYJC in Medford, initially hired by the great Jerry Allen “Voice of the Ducks”, Danny moved quickly over to a spot calling Phoenix HS Athletics in 1984.
From there, Danny went where the work was…including stops in Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas finally coming back to Oregon in 2010.
A voice for the OSAA State Championships for the OSAA Radio Networks since the early 2000’s, his play-by-play has been recognized as the best in class in Oregon, Arizona, and Kansas. He has been the “Voice” of several High Schools, Junior Colleges, and has filled in for NCAA Division I and II schools in calling over 4,000 events in his career.
Danny follows as a fan the Packers, Cubs, Blackhawks, and Oregon Ducks. As the current President of the O-Club, he is passionate in helping the school raise funds to support their programs.
His love and passion is first and foremost, his family. Wife Deborah, daughter Abigial, sons Tyler and John, and furry kids Bella, Bailee, Blossom, and “Wee-man” Apricot he enjoys a good cookout on his “Man patio” with friends, golfing (not too seriously), watching almost every sporting event there is….and finding cool TV series to consume kicking up his heels with his family.
Mostly, Danny brings his perspective to a daily show with humor and self-deprecation. Nothing is taboo…and if you, the listener, can spend some time to laugh and be informed, the job is completed.
Danny loves radio…and appreciates you listening and participating.
JUSTIN GROSSWEINER
Play-by-Play. Personality. Pure Sports.
My name is Justin Grossweiner, and I’ve been at KORE since 2024. I’m originally from Chicago, but I grew up in Alaska with stops along the way in Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, and New York before eventually settling in Oregon. I’ve been in Eugene since 2017 when I began my journey at the University of Oregon.
I have a lot of interests, but everyone who knows me can tell you one thing: I LOVE sports. I live and die by my teams as a huge Cubs, Bulls, and Packers fan. I have to credit my love for athletics to my mom, Karen, who has been listening to me talk about sports endlessly since I was a little kid. It’s almost as if I’ve been training to do my job my entire life, and I think that’s pretty cool.
As a journalist by trade I’ve always had a passion for storytelling, and in my opinion sports have the best stories in the world. Now that I’m old enough to realize I’m not the next Javier Baez, Derrick Rose, or Aaron Rodgers I’ve dedicated myself to helping tell the story of all the amazing athletes at both the local and national level. Some of my biggest storytelling influences are Pat Hughes, Len Kasper, and the late great Stacey King. I hope that I can honor their work with my career.
When I’m not watching or playing sports you can find me watching movies, playing video games, and interacting with any animal I can find (especially cats).
